Panelized Construction for Smaller Projects

If you are familiar with our company at all, you know that we specialize in modular construction. That means the pieces of your home or addition are assembled in a factory, then we deliver them to your location, assemble the pieces, and complete the finishing touches inside and out. One drawback to modular construction is the need for it to be a substantially sized project, meaning if it’s not a new house or large addition, it’s not the best option. Delivering the modular pieces and getting a crane to set just a couple small sections is not worth the cost and time.

So, to meet the need of smaller projects, Carbide offers panelized construction for northern Virginia. Panelized construction is sort of a hybrid to modular construction but on a much smaller scale. Instead of entire rooms being constructed, individual walls and roof systems are built off site.

Many of our modular construction projects involve adding a second story or a good amount of square footage to the back or side of a house. However, if you just want to add an extra room, like another bathroom or bedroom, the size of the project is not enough to warrant the construction of modular sections. Instead, we can use panelized construction to put the walls together off site then assemble those at your home’s location.

Here is an example of a panelized construction project completed by our team in Falls Church.

With panelized construction, you still get the benefits of modular construction, which include lower cost, less disruption at your residence and fewer weather delays. With a stick-built addition, the entire construction process will happen at your home, meaning more noise and disruption to your daily life and possible delays due to weather. With panelized construction, we can get the project completed much quicker, which translates to lower labor costs.

Like modular construction, panelized construction offers quality control for your addition. The panels are made with precision by machines in a climate-controlled workspace. This results in tighter tolerances for an assurance of quality.

If you are considering adding on to your house, Carbide can help. Whether it’s a large or small addition, we can complete it in a timely manner with minimal disturbance to you and your family. Depending on the size of your project, we’ll employ either modular or panelized construction to meet your needs and budget.
